S. Korea hands over decommissioned patrol boats to Timor Leste

SEOUL, September 26 (Xinhua) -- South Korea handed over three retired patrol ships to Timor Leste to help the country guard its territorial waters and preserve marine resources, the defense ministry in Seoul said Monday.

The move came after South Korean vice defense minister Lee Yong- gul and his Timor Leste counterpart Julio Thomas Pinto signed an agreement on donation last month in Seoul.

Representative from the two countries held a handover ceremony in Timor Leste's capital of Dili on Monday and discussed expanding bilateral defense industry cooperation and military exchanges.
