Singapore F-15SGs Escape Brush Fire at Mountain Home

Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) F-15SG  is towed to safety at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

A brush fire that was believed to have been started by a lightning strike on the evening of August 15 at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, meant that all flying operations were halted and personnel evacuated from flight line buildings as the fire approached the base.

The fire consumed around 3,000 acres, including five acres on the northwest corner of the base, but only a building containing navigation equipment on the airfield was thought to have possibly sustained some minor damage.

More than 20 vehicles and nearly 60 firefighters from the base, the city of Mountain Home and Grandview fire departments, along with the Bureau of Land Management worked together to fight the grass fire before it was eventually brought under control.
