Summing up the active phase of the
Comradeship-in-Arms-2011 war games earlier today, Russian Defence
Minister Anatoly Serdiukov said that Russia has for the first time used
its S-400 air defence missile system.
The manoeuvres
that have been held at the Ashuluk proving range, in the south of
Russia, comprised over 2,000 CIS servicemen and sought to drill Air
Force units of Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in
carrying out joint operation procedures when repelling terrorists in a
near-border armed conflict.
The range practice was
attended by the Defence Ministers of Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan,
Armenia and Ukraine, and also by observers from Algeria, Malaysia,
India, Indonesia and Syria.
Defence Minister
Serdiukov spoke highly of the military units’ interaction and pointed
out that all Defence Ministers were clearly content with the units’
performance.
