SACRAMENTO, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- The government of Singapore has contracted U.S. company Composite Engineering Inc. to supply its armed forces with high-speed aerial target drones.
The multimillion-dollar contract for BQM-167Xi target drones includes requisite ground support equipment, training, logistics support and spares.
The target system will be provided as the international variant of the recently selected next-generation, high subsonic sub-scale aerial target system for the U.S. Navy, the company said.
"We are all so very pleased to be selected as the supplier to support the defense target needs of Singapore," said Composite Engineering President Amy Fournier.
CEI's Roseville, Calif., office will provide engineering, program management and administrative support for the Singapore contract, while is Sacramento facility will perform the manufacturing and its office in Wichita, Kan., will contribute to the software effort.
CEI didn't disclose the value of the award. It also didn't disclose the number of drones it will supply or delivery schedule.
